What:

Back to School Teachers Store is a nonprofit that provides free school supplies to local kids in need.

How:

Works with 40 free teachers stores in the U.S. through the Kids In Need Foundation Network

Over the past two years, over a million dollars-worth of supplies have been donated to teachers in Delaware County.

Why:

The store was created for the purpose of serving the educational needs of Delaware County teachers and students.

Delaware County has the worst poverty rate in Indiana for children under the age of 18.

Muncie and Delaware County schools are lacking approximately two hundred thousand pencils and six thousand notebooks this year.

Who:

The store transfers, for no cost, the community’s surplus supplies into the hands of teachers and children.

In 2017, about seven hundred teachers visited the store.

When:

The store is open Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Delaware County teachers are able to shop at the Back to School Teachers Store for free classroom supplies up to ten times a year.

Where:

The store is located at 7th and Madison St. in Muncie, Indiana.
